Scholarships

Each scholarship requires a paper copy submitted to the school office.

Many of these scholarships are housed in the SLHS Foundation, which provides operational funding and tuition assistance to Shoreland Lutheran on an annual basis.

RETURNING  STUDENT  SCHOLARSHIPS INFO and/or APPLICATION
Ken Russell Scholarship
$250 Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a current junior who has completed three semesters at SLHS with a cumulative 2.3 GPA (C+) or better. The student must be a member in good standing of an SLHS federation congregation.

Benjamin Honeck Scholarship for the Visual Arts
This is a Merit Based scholarship available for male and female students entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.

$150 for academic, social, and spiritual leadership for a returning junior.

$300 for a returning art student; This scholarship is selected by committee; no application is necessary.

Brooks Family Bio-Med Scholarship
This scholarship is for students participating in the STEM Bio-med program to subsidize their registration cost.  The scholarship amount will vary for each student.  A total of $2,000 per year will be fully distributed among applying students based on financial need.

GRADUATING  SENIOR  SCHOLARSHIPS  INFO and/or APPLICATION
The L.R. "Larry" Marquardt Lutheran Scholarship
$1,000 Scholarship is awarded to a Shoreland Lutheran senior who is enrolled at Bethany Lutheran College, Martin Luther College, or Wisconsin Lutheran College.

AES Engineering Solutions Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education.  It is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.  It is intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

 

Scholarship Guidelines & Application
K. Hunter Goff Elder Law Scholarship

$500 scholarship will be awarded.  Applicants must be attending college by Fall 2017 and have at least a 3.0 GPA.  They must be interested in pursuing a law-related degree.  Deadline for application is July 31, 2017.

Veterinarian Science Scholarship

$500 scholarship to be awarded will be based on merit and need.  Applicants must be attending college by Fall 2017 and have at least a 3.0 GPA.  They must be interested in pursuing a career in veterinary science.  Deadline for application is July 31, 2017.

 
Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship
The Kiwanis Foundation of Metropolitan Kenosha is again offering academic Scholarships to senior high school students who, upon graduation, will be attending an accredited two or four year college, university or technical school leading to a degree.  Applications are available through area High School counselors and on our “Downtown” Kiwanis Club web site   http://www.kiwanisdowntownkenosha.com/   
 
Thanks to the generosity of the Russell & Clair Huber bequest, we are able to offer four scholarships in 2016.  The varying amounts are $2,000, $1,500, $1,250 and $500. The $1,500 Paul Jaeger scholarship is reserved for an active Bradford HS Kiwanis Key Club member. The $500 scholarship is reserved for a technical school candidate.  The application deadline is March 31, 2017.

Colleges - Shoreland Lutheran does not give seniors scholarships to go to colleges. However, local groups do contact SLHS with information about scholarships they have to offer, and we are happy to post them here for all interested.

Toptal Scholarship
The scholarship program is 12 scholarships awarded over the next 12 months to help young women pursue their technical career aspirations. It is open to more than just young aspiring developers; the award applies to anyone with a passion for tech and we welcome applicants from high school who have a growing interest in STEM. Each scholarship winner will receive a stipend, and in addition, a year of mentorship and guidance from the senior developers within our network.
 
K-R-W (Kenosha, Racine, Walworth) Plumber Apprentice Committee
Plumber Apprentice Applicant Interviews will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. All applications and required documents must be received by Monday, March 26, 2018. Accuplacer Test must be taken and passed before completing application. Required documents: Accuplacer test results, valid driver's license, high school transcripts, proof of graduation, or GED/HED Certificate and completed application. Applications are to be filled out at 14011 Spring Street, Sturtevant, Wednesdays (1-5 p.m.) and Thursdays (8 a.m. until noon). All questions should be directed to Julie Nielson at (262)732-4103. 
 
Kids' Chance of Wisconsin
Kids' Chance of Wisconsin is an organization providing educational scholarships to the children of Wisconsin workers who have been seriously injured or killed due to work-related accidents. Applications are due by May 1, 2019 using the application form available at www.kidschanceofwi.org. If you have questions please call Jim Hoeppner at 262-352-8417.

The Coolidge Full-Ride Presidential Scholarship
This is a full-ride scholarship covering tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of under-graduate study. May be used at any accredited U.S. university for students in any field of study. Applicants MUST apply during their junior year of high school; high school seniors are not eligible to apply. Coolidge scholars are selected primarily on academic excellence. Secondary criteria include: an interest in public policy, an appreciation for and understanding of the values President Coolidge championed, as well as humility and service. EpicPromise Scholars
Open to the dependents of any U.S. or Canadian Vail Resorts Employee. Scholarships of up to $10,000 for up to four years of post-secondary education ($2,500 per year). Application requirements: outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, personal essay, two completed reference forms, completed FAFSA. Application deadline is February 5, 2019.
