Grade School Music Information and Registration

Concert band is an elective, one year course open to all students with previous instrumental training. Areas of emphasis include performance in concerts, solo or ensemble playing, general musicianship, scale knowledge and performance, and pep band. Enrollment in the Concert band is required for participation in Pep band as well as the Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin (a summer competitive marching band).
Orchestra is a one year elective class open to all students with previous string or instrumental training. The orchestra performs in school concerts and represents the school in area church services. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the WSMA contest in the spring.
Cantate Choir is an elective one year course. Students learn to develop proper breathing, vocal skills and ear training. The chorus performs in the school concerts and for chapel services.
Festival Choir is a one year elective, open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who pass an entrance audition. Students should possess the skills taught in Chorus, plus have the ability to do basic sight-singing. The Festival Choir is an ambassador group of the school that sings in the federation congregations during the school year. The choir also performs for chapel and for the WELS Choral Festival. A robe fee is required of each student.
