Shoreland Activities

Shoreland’s Student Council plans a lot of the fun and exciting events at Shoreland. These activities provide students with opportunities to try new experiences, find new friends and grow in unexpected ways. Make the most of your high school years by getting involved. Check out a sampling of events below and be sure to explore more Student Life activities using the quick links to the right. Contact Ms. Pappalardo for more info.

Badminton Tournament
Our school has many fun and interesting activities, one being our badminton tournament. This is held in our own SLHS gymnasium. After school, you and a friend will be matched up against another team of two. You’ll then go head-on in a tournament against multiple other teams to determine who’s the winner!

Dodgeball Tournament
Everyone played dodgeball when they were kids. Now you have a chance to relive those childhood memories by participating in our dodgeball tournament! This tournament will be held in groups of 5 of your choosing. You’ll go head to head against other teams; the last remaining team is the winner!

Homecoming Dance
Our annual Homecoming dance is held in the school gymnasium, and students are welcome to invite guests from other schools. The design of posters and tickets is determined through a competition among the students. Shoreland students actively participate in the event’s planning and decoration process, ensuring a collaborative and engaging experience.

Homecoming Dress-Up Days
During our school’s Homecoming week students participate in spirit week dress up days. Classes acquire points for participation which contributes to their overall spirit scores! Dress up days vary depending on the dance theme, but a few example dress up days are: Pajama Day, Class Color Day, and Black and Gold Day.

Homecoming Flat Design/Painting
Each year before leading up to PacerPalooza, each class has the opportunity to design their own flat. Flats are large canvases set up in our Commons area. Students can work on painting their class flats during their study halls or during activity times. The flats are presented and judged at Pacerpalooza, contributing to each class’s spirit score!

Homecoming Powder Puff
Each year during our Homecoming week, students have a chance to represent their class in our annual PowderPuff tournament. PowderPuff is a series of flag football games played by girls in each class, coached by their classes’ male football players. Many teams make class T-shirts for their team. The games take place before Pacerpalooza.

Homecoming Video
In the weeks leading up to PacerPalooza, students have the opportunity to participate in their class video. Each class makes a video based on the homecoming theme. Students are responsible for editing and performing in their videos to be presented at Pacerpalooza.

Junior/Senior Prom
Junior and Senior prom takes place at the end of the year in the spring. The usual location is at Roma Lodge in Racine. The dance is planned by a prom committee, and tickets are sold the week before. The evening is filled with all kinds of activities, such as pictures, a promenade, dinner, senior slideshow, and of course, the dance.

Pacerpalooza
After powderpuff, on the Wednesday evening of homecoming week, student MCs lead Pacerpalooza. During this time class videos are presented and judged, Homecoming King and Queen are crowned, students can participate in games, and the class flats are judged.

Pickleball Tournament
Pickleball is one of the sports taking the country by storm and we have brought it to Shoreland in tournament style! Students are able to compete with a partner in a fun and friendly tournament in the school gym.

Shoreland Hoopla Talent Night
Similar to Pacerpalooza, which is held during homecoming, Hoopla/Talent Night is held during Prom week. During this night, two MCs, commonly a student and teacher duo, choose games and jokes to get the students involved and excited.

Tom’s Party Section
“Tom’s Party Section” at Shoreland is by far one of the best ways to display your Pacer pride. Inspired by freshman Thomas Lourigan’s Hawaiian heritage, the student section originally showed their Shoreland support by wearing Hawaiian-themed attire, such as: grass skirts, leis, and vibrant shirts. Today, Tom’s Party Section has expanded, and is better than ever. With a new theme for every game, Tom’s Party Section is never lacking school spirit. TPS is widely regarded as one of the most impressive cheer sections in the Metro Classic Division, by officials, students, and parents alike.

Winter Formal
Our annual Winter Formal dance takes place in our school’s gymnasium. Just like our Homecoming Dance, posters and tickets are determined through a competition among our students. Shoreland students actively participate in the event’s planning and decoration process, along with a week of games, activities, dress up days, and school spirit before the dance.

12 Days Of Christmas
Each year during the month of December we have 12 events or school activities that students can participate in. These activities and events can consist of: buying hot chocolate or pancakes, a faculty bake off, class eating competitions, or other activities and challenges.
