National Honor Society

The Shoreland Lutheran High School Chapter of the National Honor Society exists to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership, and develop character in the students of secondary school.

Membership in our local chapter is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by a Faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities.

Eligibility

Candidates eligible for selection to this chapter must be members of the junior or senior class. They must have been enrolled for a period equivalent to one semester at Shoreland Lutheran High School, or already a member from a different chapter. Candidates eligible for election to the chapter must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on the 4.0 scale. Upon meeting the grade level, enrollment, and GPA standards, candidates shall then be considered based on their service, leadership, and character.

Service

To promote leadership and service in our candidates, the members of the National Honor Society plan, coordinate, and run different drives throughout the school year.

These drives include, but are not limited to, several blood drives, a clothing drive, a book drive, and a food drive. Members are expected to participate in these drives as well as other volunteer opportunities to demonstrate the qualities listed above.
