Showcase Night

A Focus on Project-Based Learning

Showcase Night is meant to display what SLHS educational success looks like in a project-based learning environment. It is a fun “open-house style” event for the entire family that allows us to celebrate our students’ accomplishments in our STEM Academy, Robotics, Trades Program, and Fine Arts.

Our STEM Academy interactive display will highlight the outcomes from three tracks within the Academy: Engineering, Biomedical Science, and Computer Science. You’ll get to see process-driven manufactured toys, miniature 3D-printed trains, robots, medical analysis techniques, and the results of coding.

A career path in the skilled trades is a viable option for this emerging generation of workers. At Showcase Night, you’ll get just a taste of the carpentry, electrical, drywall, and plumbing skills that our students are developing.

The Fine Arts display is simply spectacular! And the Spring Concert – a popular annual tradition – exhibits the wonderful talents of our student musicians, vocalists, directors, and other areas of the Fine Arts.

The Showcase Night is on Saturday, May 21, 2023. It runs from 5-7pm. We hope you can join us!

He credits his fortunate circumstance – to be a 19-year-old high school graduate with a good-paying, full-time job – to Mr. Zondag and all of the other teachers who prepared him for the trades. “They taught me a lot of fundamentals,” he says, adding that among them is the ability for collaboration and teamwork.
